Thai Massage — Influenced by Traditional Eastern Medicines

unnamedAn Eastern Medicine massage practiced for over 2,000 years. Thai massage is a system of massage and manipulation developed in Thailand, and influenced by the traditional medicine systems of India, China and Southeast Asia, as well as by yoga.

This form of massage is given while the client is fully clothed lying on a mat on the floor. No oils are used during this type of massage. The therapist uses steady pressure applied to acupressure points on the client, as well as passive, yoga-style stretches on the client’s limbs and body. Thai Massage increases range of motion and joint flexibility, reduces muscle tension and enhances athletic performance prior to an event, and decreases muscle aches and tension after an event. Thai massages usually last about 90 minutes. Clients should wear loose comfortable clothing that allows for flexibility of movement. Clients should not eat a heavy meal prior to a Thai Massage.
